Listening: The Tale of the Three Brothers

Listening: The Tale of the Three Brothers

Watching videos on Youtube, I found this amazing animation from Harry Potter. I paid attention and realized that the narrator uses perfect tenses and passive voice during the video.  Her British accent makes it more interesting and I could practice a great listening exercise. I learned words such as treacherous, cunning and brag. At the end, she says: “He then greeted Death as an old friend and went him gladly, departing this life, as equals”. What do you think about how the humble brother and Death are equals?

Collocations

Collocations

This week I worked on collocations. I looked for exercises on different websites and the ones that I found more useful were Grammar Quizzes and Perfect English Grammar. The practice in the first website was about selecting from a list of prepositions the one that best completed each sentence. On Perfect English Grammar, I had to type the correct prepositions that matched with the adjectives given.

Just in case you want to practice, these are the links:
I think the first exercise is great because it contains 26 items with different verbs, and people can receive feedback right away. Also, I learned that there is more than an option when using a collocation and sometimes it depends on the context.

In addition, I do liked the second practice because it was a little bit trickier and I could analyze cases with adjectives.  I definitely recommend both websites, they are such good tools.
