FINAL REFLECTION

Have you ever gotten very nervous before talking to someone in English? Well, I have and I must say speaking anxiety is one of the most common problems students face.

At the beginning of English IV, I had the expectation of increasing my self-confidence when speaking English. Using a foreign language can be really intimidating but it is part of a process.

I remember I used to get panic when someone asked me a question, especially when I was asked by a native speaker. Sometimes, I could not say even a word and I had to live some bad experiences to understand that if I chickened out, I was never going to learn English. I started to improve when I figured out making mistakes is okay. At the end of the day, learning English is like learning to ride a bicycle. Everyone falls off, scrapes their knees and gets frustrated but eventually, it becomes intuitive. Of course, I do not mean you will manage the language in a 100% but if you start loving what you learn and stop worrying about being perfect (because actually you won’t achieve it), you will end up realizing that English also loves you back and you will get the desired level.

Thanks to this course, I have learned new grammar structures and vocabulary expressions which has helped me to develop my skills in different areas, such as persuasive communication, advanced writing composition, inferential reading and so forth.

I’m proud to say that now I can use English in my business activities and help others who have the same problem My English is not perfect and will never be. However, I can share my ideas with others while improving.
